Jupiter, like any other planet, behaves differently in different houses/bhavas. Placement of Jupiter in some bhavas are very favourable to the native, while some places behave adversely. Jupiter in 1st House

1st house signifies personality, body, head, etc. It is said that Jupiter in ascendant can ward off many doshas in the chart. It is a very auspicious placement in a chart provided he is in strength.
