Ram Jhula is a famous and most visited iconic landmark in Rishikesh. Located at 3 km from Rishikesh city, it is an iron suspension bridge across the river Ganges. Ram Jhula connects ashrams and spiritual centers on both sides of the river. The bridge is 750 ft in length and surrounded by stunning nature. It is one of the famous landmarks in Rishikesh. It is also called a Sivananda bridge because Sivananda Ashram Divine Life Society has helped in the construction of the bridge.

Ram Jhula connects Muni Ki Reti on one side with the Swargashram area on the other side. There are many temples and ashrams on both sides of the bridge. Sivananda ashram on one side and Parmarth Niketan, Geeta Bhavan, Beatles Ashram, Yog Niketan Ashram, and market place on the other side.

History

Ram Jhula is relatively new and bigger in length compared to Lakshman Jhula, another bridge located 2 km away. Ram Jhula and Lakshman Jhula look identical in appearance and design, however, Ram Jhula is a bit bigger. It was built in 1986 by the Government with the help of Sivananda Ashram.

The bridge is always bustling with the movement of people, motorcycles, cows and sometimes monkeys. Tourists will be busy taking selfies, photos, and videos.

How to reach Ram Jhula

Ram Jhula is located at a distance of 3 km from Rishikesh City and 25 km from Haridwar. One has to hire a taxi/auto to reach the place. The nearby railway stations are Rishikesh railway station (3 km) and Haridwar railway station (25 km). The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, which is 20 km from the location.
