Vaishno Devi Temple is made as a replica of the original Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu & Kashmir, which is dedicated to Goddess Vaishno Devi, a form of Goddess Lakshmi. Vaishno Devi Temple is a popular tourist attraction in Haridwar. The temple is famous for its architecture. The man-made tunnel or caves will lead to the idol of Goddess Vaishno Devi.

Temple also has the idols of Goddesses Lakshmi, Saraswati, and Kali. There are also replicas of twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva here.

Who is Vaishno Devi?

As per legend, it is believed that Mata Vaishno Devi (Vaishnavi) is the collective manifestation of Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi, and Maha Saraswati. It is believed that a beautiful young girl, called Vaishnavi emerged out of the collective spiritual strength of three Goddesses. When the young girl asked the purpose of her creation, the Devis instructed her to uphold the righteousness among the people.

Temple Information

According to locals, it is constructed 40 years back, so it is not an ancient temple. The temple is created with artificial caves and concrete structure to look similar to the temple in Jammu. However, it seems there is no association with the original one. If one cannot visit the original temple of Jammu, they can visit this temple.

How to reach Vaishno Devi Temple Haridwar

Vaishno Devi Temple is located at Motichur in Haridwar-Rishikesh Road (about 1.5 km from the main road). The temple is situated near Bharat Mata Mandir and Sapt Rishi Ashram. The temple is located at 5 km from Haridwar Railway/Bus station and around 4 km from Har Ki Pauri. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant airport Dehradun, which is about 35 km away from the temple.
